Looking at Stars
"Looking at Stars" is a joint project of the organization Wandelstern and the Austrian Association of Star Child Support "Mein Sternenkind". It is aimed at parents, siblings and relatives of star children and creates special places where remembering, commemorating and reflecting are possible.
It all started with specially dedicated benches. But the project was able to evolve and these benches became places. Today the project includes over 100 different locations: viewpoints, towers, paths by the lake, playgrounds, rest stops in the mountains or quiet niches in parks. They are places where the view into the sky is easier and the stars seem a little closer. Here you can find peace, give your thoughts space and feel especially connected to your star child.
These places are marked with a "Looking at Stars" plaque and connected via a QR code to the online help map for star child families. This creates a dense, loving network that extends far beyond regional borders – and a visible sign that star children have a place in the middle of our society.
"Looking at Stars" invites you to combine grief and love, to look at the sky and to feel: Love remains.
Every newly created place helps to bring the topic of star children further into the public eye, to reduce fears of contact and to create a network of support in which affected parents feel understood and find a dignified place of remembrance for their children. Feel free to contact us if you also want to create a place for our star children in your area!
